The Bodily Resurrection of the Lord Jesus!
This article outlines our core beliefs regarding the bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus is the Son of God and God within the Trinity of God. In the Gospel of John 14:6, the Lord Jesus declares, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, if not by Me.” He came to earth to show us the way to God the Father and to provide salvation for our souls. As the Lamb of God, the Lord Jesus was crucified for the sins of the world, serving as the perfect sacrifice. His grace offers salvation to all who believe in His name. To attain salvation, one simply needs to believe in the Lord Jesus, the Son of God, and in His redemptive work on the cross—there is nothing else required. The Lord Jesus Rose Out from the Dead in the Body
The Bible teaches clearly that the Lord Jesus was crucified (Matthew 27:33-37), died on the cross (Matthew 27:46), buried in the tomb (Matthew 27:58-60, Mark 15:42-47), and rose out from the dead in the same body (flesh and bones) on the third day (Luke 24:6-9). The same body that was crucified and died and placed in the tomb came to life (John 20:27) and was taken into heaven, and the Lord Jesus in His humanity and Deity (Luke 24:51) is seated at the right hand of God the Father (Mark 16:19). The belief in the bodily resurrection and bodily ascension to heaven of the Lord Jesus is foundational to the Christian faith (1 Corinthians 15:12-19). We all hold the conviction that one day we will rise again and be united with the Lord Jesus in the new earth (see Comments Matthew 24:3, and Comments Matthew 27:52). The Lord Jesus’ body never experienced decay, as stated in Acts 2:27. He rose out from the dead in His body, in which He has returned to the Father, since everything is ultimately in the Father. And, this is why He rose in the body—to preserve the earth. This earth will eventually melt away, leaving nothing from it except for the Lord Jesus’ body (see Comments Matthew 24:3, and Comments Mark 13:3-13). To ensure that His disciples believed in who He is and in His resurrection in the body, the Lord Jesus appeared to them on multiple occasions (John 20:19-31, John 21:1-24, Acts 1:3). During these encounters, He revealed His resurrected body, taught them about the kingdom of God, and commissioned them to go into all the world to proclaim the gospel of salvation to everyone (see Mark 16:12-13).
Why is the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus in the Body Important for a Christian?
For the hope of all humans, the resurrected body of the Lord Jesus becomes the fundamental faith issue. Suppose the believer comes to the beloved Son of God but has no hope in the resurrection, meaning the believer’s hope in the resurrected heavenly body to rejoice with the beloved Son of God is gone; in that case, the resurrected body of the beloved Son of God will have no meaning for that person. It is essential to understand that in the world to come, the earthly body of all humans will be gone, and only one human body will remain—the body of the beloved Son of God, who is already in heaven.
For a believer, the level of faith and hope is to aim together to the One Body that has been resurrected: the beloved Son of God, who should be the hope of all to see. Therefore, when the believers go to heaven, they will all see the beloved Son of God with the scarred, pierced hands and feet, and they will remember the sins of the earth, that He has taken them all in those scars with Him. All the judgment has been placed on Him already; the forgiveness for humans is related to the scars He carried with Him. And that is why He is seated on the throne of God in His humanity as well.
